On time this season...
Marking time at the Titan fashion show in New Delhi.
WHEN ONE of the leading watch manufacturing companies has to unveil its first flagship store in New Delhi, what does it do? It gives an opportunity to four budding designers to come out with swanky designs. The movers and shakers were waiting with enthusiasm at Titan's first flagship store - N2, Connaught Place - for an evening to see some of the top models on the ramp sporting gleaming watches of Titan Industries Limited.
The four designers were Sonam Dubal, Anshu Arora, Nandita Basu and Abishekh Gupta. All of them interacted with everybody.
Prasad Bidapa, the fashion guru choreographed the show. He said, "We are presenting a new wave of youngsters. Their work is reflected in the ambience of the store. Sonam Dubal will come out with black and crimson. Anshu Arora will coming up with turquoise and red. Nandita's will be Rockstar collection while Abhishekh will present traditional men'swear."
Anshu Arora said, "My work would be showcased in washed silk, bright colours, sharp silhouettes. Then there are contemporary colours like aqua and blues."
Jesse Randhawa - the main attraction - came first. Dressed like a Japanese doll, she showed graceful movements and with finesse showed her watch. She wore heavily embroidered stuff. Other models - Fluer Xavier, Jas Arora, Sapna Kumar and Vikas Singh - perfunctorily walked on the rostrum. To be fair to them they were careful to display their hand movements in such a way so that the invitees could glance at their watches. Since the wooden floor was short the models had a challenge.
Nandita Basu said, "It took me a week to come out with my collection. I used georgette, cotton and colours like pink and mango. The focus was exclusive Western women's wear."
"I tried to show originality and creativity. My collection is fresh and there is a new look about it. The dresses are a blend of Indian and Western wear. For men I have come out with a camel coloured jacket," said Abhishekh Gupta.
