Serene, stylish and steaming always

COULD NOT meet your friend as per your appointment? No worries! Just leave a note on the `Heart Beats', an information board, placed in this pub. This unique concept or facility is offered by the Abi's Café at Gandhi Nagar in the city to its customers.

The Abi's café, an exclusively coffee pub run by Sri Ambal Quality Foods, Virudhunagar, though located in one of the busiest areas of the city, attracts many families as the inside atmosphere is completely serene. Students of the nearby colleges and schools also frequent this pub.

"As the number of families visiting our joint is increasing day by day, we have started serving some delectable food items such as, pizzas, burgers, etc., along with our popular list of coffees", says Ramadevan, Manager (Trainee) of this pub.

"While, in the coffee section, the cold varieties top the choice of most visitors, the pizzas and the burgers are liked by many in the food items", according to him. If these are the preferences of the customers, the joint on its part offers some special schemes like free vanilla with a pizza during weekends and free-eat for kids on Wednesdays, if they present their school identity cards, to lure the customers.

On the price range, Ramadevan says, "hot coffees cost just Rs.15 and the cold ones are priced at Rs.30.The top hit in the hot coffees is the Cappuccino and in the cold it is the Caffe Frappe. Apart from this, a host of cold beverages, shakes, granitas and desserts are also served here suiting to everyone's taste".

"For those who want to try unique flavours in the coffee, some add-ons like vanilla, chocolate, cappuccino and butter-scotch are offered", he says adding, "we have also introduced some specials under the title `Kool Cosy' and the `Stuffed Apple'. This comes with various ice-cream flavours filled inside an apple."

Similarly, the food section is not confined to pizzas and burgers alone and there are many other fast foods to munch.

A perfectly designed air-conditioned café, the Abi's provides the best vibe for a short chat with your friends or to spend your evenings watching the latest hits of your favourite pop stars.

"Though our pub starts `steaming' by 11 in the morning and winds up by 11 in the night, like those of its kind abroad, the peak time the coffee-savvies throng this café is between 11 am and 3 pm and 5 to 11 in the evening", says Ramadevan.

There is also a fun cards section here for those who want to leave interesting messages to their pals.

Not only in their saloon, the Abi's services can also be made available in your premises. "Orders for domestic, club or official functions should be at least for a minimum of 30 persons. The package, a cold coffee, a burger or a pizza and one scoop of any ice-cream, per person comes at a cost of Rs75 and the minimum amount for a function will be approximately Rs.2000" he says, adding, "we also undertake orders for birthday cakes with prices ranging from Rs.350 to Rs.650. We also offer a discount of 30 per cent for bulk orders".
