Designs at your feet
CALL IT confusion or choice, but one thing is sure with prices getting competitive and every other day designers displaying their collection, which though barring a few are hard to separate from each other, customer is ruling the designer roost this season. Joining the league is Amarjyot Singh Anand, who after dressing up men for a few years has now bowed his scissors to women with his AJ's label for the Fall-Winter 2003.
"We are offering saris with wool thread, aari, beadwork, jaal and zardozi work creating a `70s look. The motifs are floral and colour palette is bright with yellows, oranges, deep blues and even black finding a space. Then we have kurtis with thread work matched with Patiala and Afghani salwars," says the 1995 NIFT graduate, who sells from his studio in Lajpat Nagar. Amar feels that for kurtis knee-length is the limit and motifs are moving beyond traditional floral patterns to abstract geometrical ones. The price for kurtis starts Rs.1500 and for trousseau it is Rs. 5000 onwards.
