Fashion in the fast lane

ART OFT proclaims the man. This was underscored in the FDIT Fashion Show organised by Eros Jewellery and the National Institute of Fashion Technology at the Siri Fort Auditorium this past week. The exhibition was a celebration of creativity and imagination of NIFT's graduating class of Fashion Design Information Technology.

The designs were inspired by a variety of themes, and the audience were impressed. Anarchy, with a punch line that said "Guilty till I am proven innocent", created quite a flutter. And while Drag Queen "The miss understood" evinced cheers from the audience, Aakhiri Mughal collection silenced everybody with its novelty. Soulful Embellishment, which depicted the journey of life through this humdrum world, and Life Is A Drama... Play On, celebrating the drama of life, presented a lively contrast. The surprise package of the show was Anjuman that brought to life the forgotten Islamic court dresses. At the same time, Rome Is Not Made In A Day, the beautiful Banarasi design with a modern touch, was appreciated.

The collection that, however, carried the day, was a sports collection aptly named 40/40 Deuce. Its durability, and ultimately, utility saw it through. Not far behind was the collection named Mollusks, which received wide applause and admiration.

The event also included an exquisite display of Eros jewellery. One of the icons of fashion design, Anish Tahim, was also honoured for excellence in apparel technology.
