Varied expressions

Xpressions 2003 will feature the works of experts and amateurs

FIFTH DIMENSION, the school of arts and expression, will celebrate its first anniversary with an exhibition-cum-sale of paintings and sculpture that will showcase the talent of the school's faculty and the progress made by the students.

The show titled "Xpressions 2003" will feature an anthology of paintings — amateur and professional, realistic and abstract, contemporary and classic.

The exhibition will feature E. Amalore's, head of Fifth Dimension's Fine Arts section, drawings and paintings "Treasures - rural and urban", R. Srinivasan's bronze works, N. Gopalakrishnan's oil and acrylic paintings, roses by Nilima, Geetanjali's (founder of Fifth Dimension) paintings "Eclectica" portraying still life, nature and spirituality, "Dances of India" in the medium of dry pastels by Preeti and Bhaviya's still life in dry pastels.

The school aims to be a complete centre for self-development and cultural expression. It proposes to support talented artists in various fields and help their works reach art-lovers. There are two sections — arts and expression. Diploma and professional courses in fine arts and specialised workshops form the art course. Activities of the Expression section include dances - folk and Bharatanatyam (Odissi classes commences from January), languages (French and Sanskrit), photography workshops, children's camps and physical fitness (yoga, meditation and exercises).

The school is located at No.9/17, 10th Avenue, Harrington Road. Ph: 55879098.

The exhibition-cum-sale will be inaugurated on December 14 at 10.30 a.m. at Vimonisha Art Gallery, Nungambakkam. The guest of honour will be actress and director Revathi. The show will be on till December 17.
