Spice up the movies

At Marrybrown, the fresh chicken is marinated and delicately coated to enhance its natural flavour

THERE IS something about Marrybrown that one feels like coming back again and again. Like the cheerful airy ambience that refreshes the mind immediately on entry, a dash of colours and `smileys', and genuinely yummy food that make the restaurant (second floor, Prasad's Imax) a must-visit stopover for those in-between times whenever one drops in at the swank multiplex.

Part of a popular Malaysian food chain, Marrybrown's first outlet in Hyderabad is a 65-seater focussed on only great-tasting burgers and fried chicken, finger-chips and sundaes form part of the new menu.

The first restaurant in Malaysia was started with the intent of making it McDonald's or a KFC-equivalent to suit the Asian tongue and tummy. Now there are 80 outlets in Malaysia alone, and about eight in Chennai.

Specially prepared burger patty, fish fillet and marinated chicken ready for frying is flown in to Hyderabad from Marrybrown's central office in Chennai regularly to maintain consistency in taste and flavour. "Supplies go from Chennai to other parts of South-East Asia where Marrybrown franchisee outlets are situated.

It is important as a fast food brand to preserve uniformity in every aspect of the food-chain, be it interiors, taste or the menu," explains Marrybrown country-manager (operations), Benu Leeberson.

This is to ensure that to whichever outlet you go, you get to sink your teeth into a meaty treat in the form of a scrumptious chicken winglet or a pair of legs that have been grilled on special vessels that accentuates the smoky flavour leaving a blister. The cheese-laden burgers have the same succulence and the first bite into the nutty, golden-brown coating will tell you the rest of the juicy story.

"Our vegetarian burgers are made with a special type of mayonnaise that does not contain eggs, and they taste fabulous," the country-manager adds.

One should try the `value-for-money' meals, like the `magic meal' (Hot touch burger, vegetable nuggets (five pieces), regular fries, vanilla milkshake/sundae), `mega meal' or `merry meal', which are priced at Rs. 129, Rs. 119 and Rs. 109 respectively. "The combos make for a wholesome meal," points out Benu.

If you are looking for a place to celebrate your child's birthday in style, Marrybrown (Tel: 23450244) has multiple facilities combining food, fun and games - from decorating the party area inside the restaurant to birthday invitations, gifts, party hats, chipmunk appearance, computer and video games, and even arranging for bulk movie booking at Imax.

"Our prices are competitive and we see to it that wholesome entertainment is provided," adds the restaurant manager. Next time you are at Imax for a movie, make sure you call on Marrybrown. Nothing wrong in adding some spice to any story.
