Working wonders with colours
A perfect composition of colours and superb finish, without any overflow of ink or water colours even while depicting the minutest details, mark the paintings of K.V.S. Prasad. An exhibition of his works is currently on at the Chitrangan Art Gallery (Hawa Mahal) on the Beach Road.
A self-taught painter, Prasad literally breathes life into his paintings by the vivid use of colours. Though he doesn't have a computer to try out the perfect colour combinations and designs before putting his work on canvas or paper, he seems to have a computer ticking in his brain, which puts things in place in the right proportion. The acrylic on canvas works entitled `Dasavatara' and `Balaji' are examples of his imaginative skills.
His series of paintings on `flowers', the `Kaleeya mardhana' scene in water colour and fibre glass and `Shakti' depicting the Mother Goddess in water colours on paper, are impressive. A paper collage of a `mother and child' is touched up with water colour while the fibre glass work `Seasons' draws an analogy between the different stages of human life and the seasons of the year.
In all, 38 paintings are on display at the exhibition, which was inaugurated by the Head of the Fine Arts Department of Andhra University, V. Ramesh. The expo scheduled to conclude on Sunday has been extended by a couple of days.
