THIS YEAR, the Pond's Femina Miss India contest has a local connection - Merita Geoffrey.
The lissom beauty from Coimbatore is one of the 30 girls selected from across the country for the finals of the beauty contest, to be held on March 27.
The 23-year-old has already done ramp shows with designers like Satya Paul. She is now pursuing her post-graduation in advertising from Loyola College, Chennai.
In a statement, Merita said she was rigorously training for D-Day. "I intend to make the people of Coimbatore proud of me," she added.
