Hyderabadi model Farhad Shahnawaz makes it to the Gladrags Manhunt 2004 finals

THE VERDICT is out. Farhad Shahnawaz has made it to the Gladrags Manhunt 2004 finals. Dino Morea, John Abraham and Zulfi Syed are some of the earlier winners of the pageant. This will be probably the second time that a Hyderabadi bags the crown after Reggie Verghese, the millennium winner of the pageant, if Farhad clinches the title. Gladrags Manhunt 2004 will be held in Mumbai on April 3. The contestants will be judged through four rounds— introduction, swimsuit, Q&A and the final deciding round. They will also be put under the microscope during the pre-pageant regimen of fitness and grooming as well as social dos.
It's been a tough schedule for the biryani buff as he prepares for the finals. "French fries, colas and biryanis are out. I am on a fitness spree, controlling diet as well as working out religiously at the gym," Farhad explains as he tones up his chiselled musculature. Enhancing his personality is an ensemble of structured silhouettes in clean cuts designed by Leena Reddy. "Slim look is in. It also makes one look taller. No matter how tall you are, you tend to look shorter on stage. Thus we have given him beiges and greys to look taller and broader.
Since the finalists will be training for 12-15 days, we have designed some street wear for him-- shirts in cotton lycra, trousers in polyester with a plastic feel and sporty blazers so that he creates a positive impression from day one, apart from formal blazers we have designed for the evening show in different textures such as satin and thicker matte finish," says Leena. Designer Ashwin.P of Con'Traditions has created the contestant's formal wear, a black suit in a blend of Italian wool and viscose. "We have given Farhad a one button style fitted suit with detachable collars, with pleat less trousers that fall between straight fit and boot cut," says Ashwin.
Farhad throws in a few denim blazers, golf caps, shoes and glares as well as he packs up before boarding his flight to Mumbai. Confident, cool and composed, he looks forward for the finals.
"It is one of the most coveted pageants. One gets to sign a modelling contract with the organisers for the advertisements and fashion shows that they organise in the said period and it sure looks fun," he says. Here's wishing him success as he walks the ramp, this time for the crown.
