Hub of design
"WHEN WE looked at the LIFW, regular fashion shows in the country and overseas we felt we should brand India. Our country is always known for its fabrics and not as a fashion hub. So we wanted to position India as a designer hub for the whole world through DSYN 04 (by giving inputs in design and their execution)," says Somasekhar, Director of NIFT, Hyderabad.
The show is touted to be bigger than the LIFW. "In fact there is no comparison. There are 165 designers participating in this which includes not just ramp shows but seminars and workshops," he adds.
With this event, which showcases design talent for the foreign markets, Somasekhar adds "India can open a new chapter in fashion. It can supply to the world. Its rich textile tradition will be reflected in the show. It will certainly keep India in the forefront . I am sure it will become a world renowned fashion event."
