Sole style

Liberty launched its retail outlet, Revolutions, with a fashion show at Spencer Plaza

Style cast its spell on the visitors to the city's most happening shopping spot, Spencer's, for three consecutive days as ace models took the ramp in the Atrium. It was the launch of Liberty's Revolutions, the retail outlet of the premier footwear brand. With model-actor Neha Dhupia cutting the ribbon and the likes of Sushma Reddy walking the walk in sexy attire in tropical hues, more heat was added to the centigrade!

"I love shopping. It's an absolute endorphin rush. But I didn't quite expect to witness a fashion event. I got a total high," remarked Preetha Sujin, a college-goer. The best part of the show was when the public was invited to walk the ramp for Liberty. And it didn't stop there, the smart catwalkers walked away with prizes!

And now to the `sole' purpose of the show. Liberty, which completes 50 years in the footwear business, has launched Revolutions, its retail chain across the country. In keeping with its name, the essence of the line is "freedom from the usual." So there are Coolers in brown-nubuck and light tan burnish for men who wish to cool off. And there's the Windsor collection of sleek shoes in conventional and innovative styles for upwardly-mobile men who would let their footnotes do the talking! Want to glide into a whole new world of comfort and style, then Gliders is for you. Camel, grey, beige or stark black... the range comprises both formals and informals for men. For sporty chic, Force 10 in sensible styling and vibrant hues is the answer.

"Hey women, stay girl" are the catchwords of "Senorita." Sandals or slippers, the range spells class. And that's not all at the swanky showroom at Spencer's. There's plenty on the racks for kids and teenagers with an eye on the trend-o-meter. And what about pricing? "Our target group is youth — precisely those who go for impulse buying. So the prices are anywhere between Rs. 500 and Rs. 800 for the leisure range and Rs. 1200 for the formals. For women, it's Rs. 600 onwards. As far as I can see, the Chennai market is bullish. We will add the collection based on local demand," says the company's Executive Director, Adarsh Gupta.

One look at the collection, and you realise that Liberty is just right for visually-driven fashion addicts. But wait... there's innovation in terms of technology as well. For instance, the heels, even the fish tank-like ones are light and most of the shoes for men have inventive ventilation! Want to put your best foot forward?
