White is right

COTTON, WHITE and Floras - an overdose of this staple threesome for summers underlined fashion designer Adarsh Gill's Spring-Summer Collection showcased this week.
There is freshness in the tunics matched with pants and wrap-around skirts in terms of cuts and printing and motifs, but soon Gill goes overboard and repetitive when she tries the same with different colours, with an overindulgence of embellishments and infatuation with floral motifs, a combination that has been done to death in the past. There are one or two novel outfits here and there, like the black tunic with abstract floral patterns matched with white pants or a red corset matched with a white flowing skirt, again with phool patti.
Though Gill counters that she has tried different things like mixing dabka with crystals, the real distinct effort was presenting achkans and jodhpuris in cotton. Though the embroidery looks a bit outdated, still the outfits manage to give a regal touch in this season of casuals. "I have used cotton, linen, silk and flax for comfort. Hand painting is preferred, and white, black and red have been my favourites." The range starts from Rs.10,000 and peaks according to Gill, in the sky. Not worth a deal.
