Changing tastes, new looks

REFURBISHED AND redesigned, Pickwicks, the 24-hour multi-cuisine restaurant at the Claridges now wears a vibrant and contemporary look and offers a totally new eating experience. And the new menu includes some mouth-watering dishes like Lobster thermidor, char grilled red snapper, London fish and chips, eggplant and mozzarella gratin and crepe of garden vegetables.

The enticing prelude that includes dishes like ginger stung chicken nuggets with a citrus sabayon, curried mushroom and green onion rolls with sweet chilli sauce are all delicious to eat. A club sandwich with the filling like smoked tuna, soft cheese has a refreshing taste. One can also dig into Gruyere flakes with mushrooms in a fluffy omelette and Spanish frittata. The pasta though was spicy and a little too `hot'. The afternoon meal offers continental dishes besides vegetarian and non-vegetarian spicy biryani and the all-time sizzling favourite like London mixed grill, Pickwicks chicken and paneer shaslik. The dessert menu has the signature bitter chocolate cake and the corn pudding. The cold coffee, seasonal fruit juices, drinking chocolate and milk shakes are all refreshing. An average meal for two persons costs around Rs.1500.
