Last month we introduced a new column "Namma Madurai" to give our readers a quick peep into the landmark places and also some forgotten sites in and around Madurai. With the Chithirai festival dominating the peoples' mind this week, we thought of hig hlighting the Mariamman Teppakkulam, which lies just five km East of the Meenakshi Temple. All excitement may be focussed on the celestial marriage of Meenakshi and Sundareswar inside the Temple but the Tank is no less an important venue.
