WITH THE fashion fare on offer at the just-concluded Lakme India Fashion Week in New Delhi, it becomes yet again an outfit show on Indian ramp. Having attracted full focus on garments, accessories like shoes mostly went unnoticed. And, that if asked to name a few designers who design shoes, one name that is Rohit Bal's floats up to the fore, speaks hordes.
But still, Liberty Director Anupam Bansal, sees gains in becoming one of the sponsors of the LIFW since last year. "Liberty has decided that it is time to state clearly that it is not just clothes that make a fashion statement but what you flaunt from your head to toe," says Bansal. Having signed a three-year contract with the LIFW organisers, Fashion Design Council of India, Liberty has been designing shoes for many a designer. In this year's do too, it provided shoes to go with the lines of six participating designers, including Rina Dhaka, Rohit Gandhi and Ashish Soni. "We were one of the first shoe companies to employ a designer to give style to our collection. Rohit Bal designed shoes for us before he did it for Metro shoes," he adds.
Keyed up with Liberty's new exclusive collection for women, Revolutions, Bansal promises Delhi three stores soon. "We are getting very good response in Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai where we have started such stores," he says, pointing at the range on display at the LIFW. Ranging from Rs.1299 to 2599, the line is indeed a few shades different from what you usually think about. With comfort, this time, the company is definitely flaunting trendy looks.
"See the styles, the colours, the shapes. Revolution shoes are up-to-date. I have no reason to think that today's fashionable women have any reason not to pick them up," the boss states. Making a statement clear and loud, it used the LIFW platform to have a promotional party where top models showcased Revolution shoes even as wine and champagne flowed to keep up the spirits of who's who.
Slightly on a higher side because the company wants to address it as an exclusive range to keep up with the latest trends. Reasonably so, this line won't be showcased in the usual Liberty showrooms but exclusive ones just meant for it. And, having said this, he throws up a politically correct line: "I have only Liberty shoes in my rack."
But, if you want to take his company's help to keep the latest fashion trend on your shoe rack, you know how much you have to shell out. And, if ready, then Bansal has a request: Please wait for a while.
