ETHNIC JEWELLERY seems to be growing in popularity both among foreigners and Indians. And catering to the demand for traditional and antique pieces is Ethnic Jewels, a showroom situated at 1, North Mada Street, Mylapore. The shop is celebrating its fourth anniversary with an exhibition-cum-sale from June 2 to 6. The exhibition will feature replicas and specially crafted items from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and even from North India.
You can look out for traditional ruby mango malai, ruby addigai, kappu, kaivanki, gundumalai, padakkam, Burma ruby bangles, nava gandi malai, light weight reversible necklaces, pendants and other gem studded pieces. The minakari sets from Rajasthan, the filigree work from Coorg and the Nagas jewellery are attractive. The shop also accepts orders to make replicas of traditional pieces brought in by customers. Besides it also undertakes orders of minor and major temple work. The products are made out of 916 KDM 22 carat gold.
