Fashion week again

One of the winning designs at India Fashion Week

FFOLIO, THE designer boutique on Lavelle Road, is showcasing their pick from the Lakme Indian Fashion Week held in Delhi recently. The designers presented are Kavita Bhartia, Namrata Joshipura, Nandita Basu, and Rina Dhaka among others. Kavita Bhartia's line includes T-shirts, shirts, and skirts in her signature colours and silhouettes. The range uses bright colours against textured backgrounds with some hand embroidery in a semi-formal range.

Namrata Joshipura's collection at the Fashion Week drew inspiration from nature, and the palette blends golds, beiges, and mud brown to dark tones of black. The fabrics used include sheer georgettes, metallic nets, stained leathers, mud print organza and distressed suede all put together in a modern idiom.

Nandita Basu uses a wide range of fabric — wool, denim, lycra, cotton, silk, georgette, and linen.

Rina Dhaka's works have been showcased at the Louvre in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, besides venues in London, Mauritius, South Africa, Dubai and Singapore. Her work uses ornate zardosi embroidery and zari work in slim line modern silhouettes. Geisha Designs by Paras and Shalini describe their work as "fresh, young and trendy".

The firm caters to occasion and day wear for urban women, stressing on the use of traditional materials like beads and sequins in unconventional ways.
