A clutch of artists is honouring Maqbool Fida who has turned 88
|
somebody's tribute to India's best-known artist
IF THERE is one Indian artist who has been praised to high heavens or condemned for his work, it is M.F. Husain.
You might not understand his movies and might even snigger at his obsession with his young and pretty subjects, but you can't ignore him.
In honour of his 88th birthday, gallery g hosts a unique show as a tribute to the artist.
The show was curated in Pune by Sanjeev Singhal in March, where it was well appreciated. Now, Pune artists have come together in Bangalore to felicitate M.F. Husain through their "44x2 = jiyo hazaron saal" collection. Singhal and 44 artists display their talent through a series of paintings done in a variety of media like pen and ink, charcoal, ballpoint pen, cloth, acrylic, as well as the classic oils and watercolours. Every artist has managed to depict his relation to the 88-year-old artist in his unique way.
The show, that started on June18 at gallery g, will be on till June 29. It is open on Sundays too. For more information, contact 22219275.
