FORUM ART Gallery and Pothole present "Potters Platters", an exhibition of platters by ceramic artists from July 3 to 16, 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
The exhibition to be held at Forum Art Gallery, 57, Fifth Street, Padmanabha Nagar, Adyar, will showcase platters made by as many as 20 different ceramic artists from around the country. So you will get to see works of established artists such as Ray Meeker from Pondicherry, Brahmadeo R. Pandit from Mumbai, Vineet Kacker and Manisha Bhattacharya as also some spectacular pieces presented by young artists such as Abhay Pandit, Nehal Rachh, Supriya Meneghetti, Antra, Sylvia Kerkar and Shailesh Pandit.
That's not all. There will also be a workshop on surface decoration on July 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, conducted by Chennai-based potter Kaveri Bharath. The workshop will explore the various techniques of decorating clay surfaces using coloured slips as well as relief work. The pieces made at the workshop can be picked up by the participants after the show concludes. (For registration call 52115596.)
Then a film titled "Golden Bridge Pottery" directed by Rajiv Krishnan and Ray Meeker will be screened on July 14 at 6.30 p.m. The film documents the history of the Golden Bridge Pottery in Pondicherry starting with the arrival of Deborah Smith in 1971 to the present day explosion of pottery units all over the Pondicherry-Auroville area.
