Treasure trove of books
IF YOU are one looking for rare books for reference here's information that will be of use to you. The C. P. Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation houses two libraries. The first is an Indological library with a collection of 15,000 books on Indian history, literature, philosophy, religion, arts and crafts and biographies. There is also a section on English literature and fiction. The second is the C. P. R. Environmental Education Centre's Library which has as many as 6,000 books, 500 videocassettes and CDs on environment.
Many of the books are rare and expensive. Hence borrowing is not allowed. However, visitors can sit in the premises and refer to the books. Facilities for photocopying are available.
The libraries are open from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and are closed on Sundays and public holidays. For details call the foundation at 24341778.
