A unisex family salon-cum-spa specialises in pina colada manicures, chocolate facials and baby corn body scrubs

PINA COLADA: good to drink when wanting to unwind but not get overly drunk.
Pina colada: good for manicures since pineapple penetrates skin, softens cuticles, cleanses, acts as a bleaching agent and coconut is a brightening agent.
Huh? No, that's not one pina colada too many. Limelite, a new unisex salon-cum-spa, uses treatments based on nature and home ingredients to pamper clients.
Exotic stuff
Of course, the salon also cuts hair, bleaches faces and massages, but its USP lies in exotic treatments. Like the baby corn body scrub, for instance. Regular massages entail oils and creams, but baby corn has tightening agents, is good as under-eye treatment and apparently gives an amazing amount of shine. The treatments at the two other Limelite salons (in Chennai) are based on one-and-a-half years of research, says Jagdish, Head of Retail, CavinKare.
Limelite belongs to Trends in Vogue, the retail division of CavinKare, which is in the process of setting up an academy for aesthetics in Chennai, with a smaller branch in Bangalore. Beauty consultants will be on hand at Limelite to advise people on what kind of treatment might suit them.
"We don't claim to do heavy duty things like remove warts," says Jagdish. "But we do have treatments for dandruff, pigmentation, under-eye and acne."
Spa facilities, waxing, milk baths, facials and other treatments have special rooms to allow for privacy. The spa section has a rustic feel, with wooden walls and dark panelling, in contrast to the bright airy exteriors that the rest of the hair salon boasts.
Jagdish claims that Limelite is the only salon in Bangalore where hair care attendants are especially trained to attend on kids. The kids' section is done up in a jungle theme with bright coloured chairs and toys to keep the kids occupied.
Tattoos, piercings
This unisex family salon also has an enclosure outside for people who don't mind being watched while they are being attended to. Tattoos, body piercings, hair colouring are also offered at Limelite, as well as an oxygen facial, which blasts pure oxygen to revitalise skin.
A haircut for women costs Rs. 300, including shampoo and conditioner; a speciality mask using red algae costs Rs. 1,500 and a manicure is about Rs. 175.
