At Arts and Crafts World, one can pick up artefacts for your home

POTTER ABOUT, the creative art studio, is moving to Kilpauk. What's more, a curio shop has opened at the same venue. Simply called Arts and Crafts World, one can pick up pretty knick knacks to give away as gifts this Deepavali.
Bohemian cut glass vases share space with pattamadai mats. One can also pick up a variety of hand-made candles in vibrant colours and unusual shapes.
Then there are hand painted papier mache boxes which can be filled with nuts and dry fruits, ceramic sugar and coffee jars, terracotta jewellery and food items such as juices and chocolates.
Thofah has displayed its range of eco-friendly mats in many hues, cane baskets, mirrors and bags. Asma Menon's paintings, pottery by Sushma Choudhary and Tanjore paintings too share shelf space. Antique furniture such as centre and corner tables and chairs are also available.
Says Anjana Sunil of Potter About, the brain behind the venture, "Most of the items on display have been hand crafted by women entrepreneurs." Anjana's speciality is mosaic art, which she translates on to mirrors, table tops and murals, which she makes to order. Here, the customer has an option of choosing the design and the colours.
The prices of the artefacts available at Arts and Crafts World range from Rs. 25 for the gift boxes to Rs. 15,000 for the antique furniture.
Meanwhile, Potter About will be holding craft classes for children and adults shortly. Arts and Crafts World is located at 15, Taylor's Road, Kilpauk, ph: 98400-32146.
