Malls all, not for all

Take your pick ...Centrestage Mall in Noida is one of the arcades providing trans-Yamuna residents with a chance to shop the glamorous way.

THEY PROVIDE some of the best commercial addresses Delhiites would like to exchange. They have made elevators part of everyday life; the term footfall has come to be understood as easily as a child can distinguish between a toffee and a chocolate. Credit card may be the language the guys here prefer but money in any language is just as appealing. Welcome to Delhi's mushrooming multiplex-mall circus with a new addition every other day. From Ansal Plaza to M2K, from Sahara Mall to Centrestage, the Capital and its neighbourhood have seen and experienced them all.

Step into a new reality ... Sights like this view of Ansal Plaza exemplify the newly liberalised Indian economy.

But make sure you enter these malls the way they want you to do it. So shorts are fine, Bermudas are okay, minis are appreciated but don't saunter in in your slippers. You might just be off-loaded. Don't bring your food from home either. By the way, don't expect them to put up a sofa for your weary legs in the lounge. Who will go to the glitzy restaurants then? So there, wear a smile on your face, keep that plastic money in your wallet, put your Gucci foot forward. You know you are headed in the right direction in the world of upward mobility!
