Anil Kapoor returns to the big screen after a long break with "Musafir"

WHEN ANIL Kapoor is the musafir, life is a journey, not a destination. The only constant thing in his film career is change, and as he says, he has really "lived it up, bottom to top." Perhaps, the new look that he dons for his forthcoming release Musafir is again to keep pace with changing needs.
"I am surprised by the positive response I have got so far for my new look. It is really unexpected," he says. Musafir comes after a "long break" which as he says, is his mantra to sustain a lasting interest in his work. "I never like to do anything so much that it becomes enough." Perhaps, that is what made acting in Musafir enjoyable for him. "I have worked with this crew and cast for the first time, including co-star Sameera Reddy and director Sanjay Gupta. I am totally satisfied with the director's efforts as much as with my own performance. I think after a long time, a complete commercial entertainer is being offered to audiences. I am sure cine goers will lap it up. It's about raw emotions. Something people on the street would identify with easily," says the actor. Well, that explains some of his intensely passionate scenes with Sameera!
Screening scripts
Of late, Anil has been consciously screening scripts and going in only for roles like the one he is playing in Ram Gopal Varma's Galti Se. "Surely it is one of my best performances," says a thrilled Anil.
About cashing in on the sleaze boom through the Musafir Item Bomb Contest, he feels, it is only a marketing strategy. "These are frills to draw people's attention. Nobody has the time to concentrate on the story line. It is only the packaging they matters," he says.
In the new bandwagon of directors, Anil gives kudos to Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar. "They are like Prakash Mehra and Manmohan Desai of this generation. But in the lines of Guru Dutt and Raj Kapoor, only Sanjay Leela Bhansali works." Like a true survivor, Anil bounces back every now and then in a new avatar.
