Diverse mediums have been put to creative use at a crafts fair that's on at the C. P. Art Centre

An intricately carved piece on show at the fair
IF YOU want a piece of heritage in your home, then visit the Craft Fair on at the C. P. Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet. Stone, brass, clay or wood diverse mediums have been put to creative use.
Take for instance, the 2-ft stone Ganesha seated on the hood of a snake beneath a tree a fine example of Orissa's rich craft tradition.
An antique piece of Radha and Gopal from Villupuram, an old-world gramophone speaker from Moradabad with typical etching, vibrantly painted neem wood wall brackets and masks from Andhra Pradesh, dhokra work boxes, Pattachitra paintings and gems and jewellery from Rajasthan the fair is a coming together of crafts from various parts of the country.
Textiles are an integral part of such fairs. There are kurtas with Kashmiri embroidery and Sambhalpuri, Pochampalli, bomkai and ikat saris. Looking for some ethnic accessories? Go for the colourful lac bangles and silver eardrops.
The proceeds from the exhibition will directly benefit the craftspersons. The fair is on till February 14.
