Italian is the flavour of the season at Cappuccino

Simply satisfying: The all-new menu at Cappuccino Pic. by K. V. Srinivasan
ISN'T LIFE always better on a full stomach? It gets even better when the taste buds are satiated. Then the birds begin to sing, the sun becomes less harsh and you are benevolent enough to overlook your neighbour's trespasses.
After a good meal at Cappuccino at the Park Sheraton and Towers I was ready to forgive the guy who `dared' to cut me off on the road, leaving me honking in vain. That's the effect a well-cooked pan-fried tenderloin stuffed with mushroom and mozzarella had on me! With each bite, succulent meat, chewy mushrooms and gooey cheese filled your mouth in a blend of delicious flavours.
At the end of a Caesar salad pizza the feeling of well-being grew. On their own, iceberg lettuce, sun dried tomatoes and anchovies may not be exciting. But on a thin pizza crust with a drizzle of olive oil and rice wine they taste great. Next was the Risotto alla Milanese. The prawns, calamari and the combination of white wine and saffron were satisfying. All these are Chef Rajat Tuli's signature dishes that feature on the new menu at the Cappuccino.
The coffee shop is going Italian in a big way. After serving Lebanese and American fare (not that they weren't nice) the change is for the better. Now there seems to be more nuances than before. If you have any doubt, sample the coconut milk soup with lobster and toasted poppy seeds. It is not Italian, but is light and satisfying.
There are new desserts too. Sicilian cheesecake with raspberry puree is my favourite with its smooth and rich flavour lingering on the tongue. The 24-hour section of the menu has more choices now. Another interesting addition is the Mumbai Street section. For more details, call Cappuccino at 24997201.
