Evening of ghazals

Ustad Ghulam Ali and Anup Jalota in concert at Kamaraj Memorial Hall on September 15

Ustad Ghulam Ali and Anup Jalota are coming together for a great ghazal evening on September 15, 7 p.m. at Kamaraj Memorial Hall. The event is being organised by Media Mix in association with the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers.

Ustad Ghulam Ali who hails from Pakistan has toured extensively, giving live concerts. Over the years, he has rendered ghazals, nazms and thumris of legends such as Mirza Ghalib and Aamir Khusro as also of present day lyricists Ahmed Faraz, Qateel Shifai and Farhat Shahzad. Recently, he has sung the ghazals of Gulzar in his new album "Visaal."

Anup Jalota who has given over 4,000 live concerts has several albums to his credit. His "Takhaiyul", "Shamakhana", "Moods" and "Farmaish" are a hit with music lovers.

The proceeds of the show will be used to build a new doctors' quarters for Jeevodaya, a hospice in the State for advanced stage cancer patients.

Tickets are priced at Rs. 2,000, Rs. 1,500, Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 and are available at Amethyst, Bombay General Store (Sowcarpet), Landmark (Nungambakkam), Music World, Naidu Hall (Adyar) and New Yorker. Tickets can be delivered for a nominal fee. For details contact 42150950 or 24520261.
