Rony’s tryst with music began right from childhood. He grew up listening to The Beatles, Abba, Santana, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, his favourites Robert Plant and Paul Rodgers and also inspired by the works of Jim Morrison. No surprise then that music was going to be an integral part of his life.

Very soon Rony began singing and by the age of twelve he was enthralling audiences with his soulful singing. Open to all forms of music Rony heart was for Rock.

In the 90s when Rony joined St. Albert’s College, known for their rock groups, they had talented musicians but needed someone to hold the reins. Rony got together the musicians available and formed the rock group. They went to win laurels in various competitions, got elected as the Arts Club secretary, making his mark as a leader and performer.

Rony’s band ‘Wrenz’ soon began performing at youth clubs, dance parties, concerts and even touring all over India. They had regular contracts with hotels and noted event management companies, extending his performances abroad.

Singing a wide range of music from Rock, Pop, Reggae, Blues and Jazz, Rony’s achievements include winner at Crossroads, All India Rock Music Festival, Delhi, national-level recognition at Varanasi (1992) and Nagpur (1993). Along with his success at these music festivals he has received wide acclaim winning at competitions like Renaissance, Countdown, Talenttime, Ragam, India Rock Fest and various other national and zonal music events. “Kochi was always famous for rock music till the 90s. Then the remixes and Indipop emerged. But I think the future is promising with the popularity of reality shows,” says Rony.

Rony is now seen every Sunday evening on Asianet Plus anchoring the show ‘Rock with Rony.’ The show features famous rock songs from the 60s to the latest entries in rock music. The show also focuses on the favourite songs of yesteryears along with the current music trends performed to perfection with added information on the lives of those great artists, songs and the story behind them. Each episode features songs by Rony in front of a live audience.

The songs featured are hit singles from different genres of music. “The series aims at educating the audience on the history and success of each song. The live audience gets a chance to vote for their favourite song that is performed. The show also encourages viewers to ask for songs by email, SMS, post and the most requested song is performed in the next episode which is called ‘song of the day’.”

Apart from music, Rony heads India Travel Holidays. This takes him all around the world that helps foster his music interests along with his business.

Rony is currently involved in creating a distinct and effective sound for his music album set to be released by a noted international music company this year.

“Nothing more on this venture, wait for the release,” he says. The only hint he gives is that it is being arranged musically by Frank Sanderson in the United States and is a combination of sounds from India, the Orient and the West.
