Jazzy B does more than stick to his roots in his new album ‘Rambo’
|
Global beats Jazzy B
Jazzy B’s 11th studio album, ‘Rambo’, is set to release. Asked about the title of the album, once again composed and produced by Sukshinder Shinda, Jazzy says, “I have grown up watching Rambo. This album is a call to youngsters to follow a healthy lifestyle.”
Jazzy believes music has influential powers. The album’s message is to say no to drugs, and to take to the gym instead.
Jazzy B, brought up in Vancouver, British Columbia, introduced a new image of Bhangra music to the world. Asked whether folk music is losing its traditional touch due to westernisation, he replies, “The roots are the same, I’m only trying to produce global fruits. I have maintained a close relationship with urban music scales as well as the traditional sounds generated from the villages of Punjab.” Rambo, the video album has 10 tracks, of which the title track is very close to the artiste’s heart.
“I think my music targets the youth worldwide.” He adds that at least three or four songs contain village slang that parents will have to explain to their curious kids. “This is a service to my roots, my language.”
Jazzy loves to perform live, and enjoys the reaction of the crowd. On what keeps him energised, he replies, “It’s the love of music that inspires me. I look at my previous works and explore areas for improvement.”
