Discipline in life
What is discipline? It is difficult to get a proper reply. Everyone talks of discipline but few know what it means.
It means we have to obey the laws of the society we live in. Self-discipline is needed for progress, prosperity and peace.
Nature is a strict disciplinarian. The sun, the moon and the earth follow certain set laws. The seasons follow one another punctually. Disturbance in nature balance results in catastrophes.
Lack of discipline will lead to chaos. It is the keynote of all progress and prosperity in life.
Discipline is indispensable at home. We get our first lesson at home by obeying our parents and elders.
Discipline is needed in educational institutions too. If students do not follow a certain code of conduct, the institution will lose its image. Students must respect their teachers to maintain peace. Teachers have to be disciplined in their lives for they are responsible for moulding their students' lives. How can one preach what one does not practise?
Discipline is a must in public life. For example, while boarding or getting off a bus it would be ideal if people stood in a queue and move in an orderly manner.
The same holds good for public places like railway stations and cinema. By discipline we can save our time also.
Discipline is always self-imposed. If we wish to make progress it is necessary that we cultivate discipline in our persona life.
