Our future face

The birth of a girl, is felt a bane,
And on dowry it is blamed.
A baby girl is but a curse, attitudes towards them are worse.
They are not given proper education,
As marrying them is an expensive proposition.
Because of the greedy, the institution of marriage is spoiled,
And efforts of many good souls are foiled.
Taking dowry leads to imprisonment for two years,
But this law has not reached numerous illiterate ears.
Alas! the literate ones also demand a dowry.
To girls the whole set up is scary.
Why don't people realise
That they are burning not slaves but wives...
Down with dowry and cruelty.
Give us our long lost equality.
