Unforgettable Pykara
September 29, 2002 at Pykara falls, Ooty. We were on our annual school excursion. The waters gushing through the rocks along the falls held us spellbound.
All of a sudden there was an uproar. Three youngsters of that locality were caught in the current of the Pykara. People, people everywhere but not one to rescue. Inspite of the danger, 11 of my friends made a human chain and were able to save only one boy. Alas! They were not able to save the other two.
Our school management was proud to honour these brave boys for their act of bravery. These 11 boys were rewarded with silver medals on our school Annual Day Celebration on January 11, 2003.
