The National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadukvasla, is India's premier defence training institute. It is the only military institution in the world where cadets from all the three services of the Armed Forces are trained jointly.

They become officers only after a year of specialised training. The officers trained at the academy have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields and have won decorations for valour. `Service before self' is the motto of the NDA cadet and he lives upto.
