Fire! Fire!

One evening when I heard fire engines with loud alarm bells rush past my house, I quickly ran out. A few streets away I saw a large crowd of people and we could see the fire even though it was a distance away. The police would not allow any one near the building on fire.

What a terrible scene. The huge flames of fire were coming out of each floor and black, thick smoke spread all over. Every now and then tongues of fire shot up into the sky, sending huge sparks of fire. Three fire engines were busily engaged and fire men in their dark uniform were spraying the building with strong jets of water. The rushing water from silver hoses finally did have an effect on the flames.

Many people were saved. The firemen did a grand deed that day.
