Quest
A rainy day
I stared intently out of the window
Fixing my look on the gloomy sky
Everything was as still and quiet
As it could be
Nor even the wet grass tilt
To the weight of a bee.
The rainbow looked so misty
That winds seem to blow it away
But it remained in the sky so firmly
That I had to chase the illusion away.
The birds on the tall trees
Had vanished without a trace
And so were other beings
Who'd not shown a face.
The streets were all deserted
As though this pouring element
Had compelled the occupants of the road
To remain in their homes sheltered.
I revived from the reverie
Into which I had fallen
Due to the drops that form the sea
And turned to works that be done.
