Nov.2: Thamilchelvan (40) the LTTE’s “Political Division” chief and five self-styled officers of the “military” are killed in an attack by the Sri Lanka Air Force on Kilinochchi.
Nov. 3: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf declares a state of emergency and replaces Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chudhary with Abdul Hameed Dogar.
Nov. 4: A special session of Nepal’s interim Parliament passes proposals on declaring the country a republic and the proportional electoral system.
Social Democrat Alvaro Colom is elected Guatemala’s new President.
Nov.5: .North Korea begins “disabling” its plutonium-based nuclear facilities located at Yongbyon.
Nov.7: Pakistan Parliament approves Emergency declaration.
China’s first lunar probe Chang’e -1, completes its around two-million-km journey to the moon and enters working orbit.
Nov.11: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf announces that Parliamentary polls will be held in the first week of 2008, before January 9.
Nov.12: India and Russia sign agreements for production of a multirole transport aircraft and on a joint mission to moon after Manmohan Singh-Vladimir Putin talks in Moscow.
Nov.13: The Punjab Government places the former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto under house arrest in Lahore. Danes cast votes in parliamentary polls.
Nov.14: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Imran Khan is arrested following a chaotic drama on the Punjab University campus in Lahore.
Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s Liberal Conservative Coalition and the Danish People’s Party win general elections in Denmark.
Nov.15: At least 2,300 people are killed as super Cyclone Sidr rips through Bangladesh’s southern coastline. Nine lakh families are affected. Low-lying coastal district of Barguna is the worst hit.
Nov.16: Muhammedmian Soomro is sworn in caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan. Twenty-two Cabinet Ministers also take oath.
Nov.19: Khmer Rouge leader Khieu Samphan (76) is arrested by Cambodia’s U.N.-backed genocide tribunal.
Nov.21: Leaders of the 16 East Asia Summit countries sign a Declaration on Climate Change, Energy and the Environment in Singapore. India offers to place a “cap” on the per-person greenhouse gas emissions”.
India begins talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency on the nuclear deal, in Vienna.
The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan is freed from Jail.
Nov.22: The Pakistan Supreme Court dismisses the last of the petitions challenging President Pervez Musharraf’s candidacy in the October 6 presidential election.
Nov.23: The 53 Commonwealth member-countries suspend Pakistan from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting after the Inauguration of the Summit in the Ugandan capital Kampala.
Nov.24: Kamlesh Sharma of India is elected Commonwealth Secretary General.
Labour leader Kevin Rudd, diplomat sweeps to power in Australian National elections. Four-time Prime Minister John Howard is trounced in his own constituency.
. Nov.25: The former Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, returns home to a tumultuous welcome, at the Lahore airport.
Nov.28: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf steps down as Army Chief and hands over charge to Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
Nov.29: Pervez Musharraf is sworn in civilian Pakistan President for a new five-year term.
Nov.30: Russian President Vladimir Putin signs the Federal law on suspending the nation’s adherence to the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty.
