Mr. Joe Modise (72), a veteran leader of South Africa's liberation movement and Defence Minister in the Nelson Mandela Cabinet, in Cape Town.

Nov. 30:

Mr. George Harrison (58) the youngest and lead guitarist of the Beatles, at a friend's home in Los Angeles, after a long battle with cancer.
