THANJAVUR: KURUKSASTRA’08 came to a musical finish with a mind-blowing light music concert by playback singers Karthik, Mahathi, Pop Shalini, FM Suchitra and Rajesh Nambiar at Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA) here recently.
The national-level cultural festival saw participation of over 50 colleges and over 1,200 participants, making it one of the country’s largest such contests.
The cultural team of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi, bagged the overall shield.
Venkatraman Krishnan, head, Cognizant Academy, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai, who was the chief guest at the valediction, handed over the shield to the winning team.
Major events such as VIBES and Trayodaya (Western and Eastern dance), Ooh La La, SASTRA-Talkies (MIME), besides other arts, English, Hindi and Tamil literary events provided a variety of choice for students to exhibit their talent.
Two outstanding short films, directed by photo hub (photo club of SASTRA), were screened and captured the hearts of the audience that had gathered in thousands at the venue.
