Vocational courses from Lifeline Hospital
Frontier Lifeline Hospital has launched various vocational courses for those keen on working in a hospital environment. The courses launched in association with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University are the B.Sc. in Physician Assistant (15 seats), B.Sc. in Cardiac Care Technology (5 seats) and Diploma in Nursing Aide (20 seats). The courses would generate a steady stream of healthcare manpower to fill critical gaps in patient care, hospital chairman Dr. K. M. Cherian said. Those graduating from these courses would be in demand for rural settings, he said. The PA and Cardiac Care Technology courses are three-year degree programmes, while the Nursing Aide programme has a duration of two years and is aimed at Plus-Two pass-outs. Pointing out that there were an estimated 87,000 PAs in the U.S. alone who were doing invaluable work in major hospitals, Dr. Cherian said the qualification was yet to be recognised by the Medical Council of India. The hospital has also been accorded accreditation of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, making it only the fifth hospital in Tamil Nadu to be NABH-accredited, said Usha Raghavan Subramanyan, NABH coordinator.
