SSN alumni to launch website

network: An alumni presents the memento, a painting done by an alumni of SSN institution, to R. Srinivasan, SSN Institution chairman.

The SSN Alumni Association is planning an exclusive website for SSN-ites to network students of all batches, and possibly pave the way for an individual to find better opportunities or collaborate and work with seniors and juniors. It will also help students still in college avail internships.

Scholarships

Started 30 months ago, the alumni association has been awarding scholarship for the past three years with the amount and number of beneficiaries increasing every year. In 2010, the association gave away scholarships worth Rs 3.42 lakh benefiting 12 students, said Swaminath Raamanathan, joint secretary of the association. After launching, Tribute, the flagship event of the association last year, the association had conducted interactive sessions and workshop for current students, giving them useful information on how to go about their career.

Strong network

On January 8, a feeling of nostalgia and homecoming prevailed in the auditorium of SSN Institutions at the launch of the second edition of Tribute. It will be held on the first Saturday every year.

Alumni from some of the pioneer batches of the college, like the batch of 2001, shared their experience.

R. Srinivasan, SSN board member, Shiv Nadar, his daughter Roshni Nadar, and SSN Institutions director Kala Vijayakumar were the special guests at the three-hour event.

There were multimedia presentations about accomplishments by alumni, cultural performances and presentations by alumni and some games for the audience. Interviews were conducted to select student alumni representatives (SAR) from the final and pre-final year batch. At the end of the day, more alumni- teacher co-ordinated workshops were planned for the coming year.
