Hills are alive with adventure...
The boats did work! It had been an intense learning experience putting together these balsa wood model boats. Six discoverers (as iDiscoveri camp participants are called) had worked for over 25 hours to build them. Even I, the Course Leader in charge of boat making, did not know till the end if we would be able to get them afloat successfully. And there they were with their tiny three-volt motors bravely battling the Tirthan river current.
The feeling of pride in triumphing over adversity is the theme of iDiscoveri programmes. It was visible when the mountain bikers cycled 32 kilometres, 16 of them uphill; when the rock climbers rappelled down a rock as high as a 10-storey building; when the trekking group comprising 12 to 14-year-olds returned from a two-day trek to the Bashloi Pass at a height of 12000 feet, muscles sore and feet aching, but bubbling with excitement.
iDiscoveri ensures that one doesn't need to take risks while confronting one's fears. Safety is of prime importance and all activities overseen by expert instructors.
Gaurav, the camp commander a founder of iDiscoveri created the half-hour Silent Time in which no one is allowed to talk. iDiscoveri camps are a unique experience.
It is this sense of sharing something special that makes many repeat their iDiscoveri experience.
iDiscoveri will organise camps during the Dussehra and Diwali holidays.
