It was a treat for the fans of Tintin...

Tintin was born in Brussels, Belgium, on January 10, 1929. His creator, Georges Remi, (Herge is his initials reversed) indulged in his love of travelling by creating the intrepid boy reporter who went to the farthest corners of the globe and did the most daring things.
His companions included his faithful dog Snowy, the colourful Capt Haddock (remember his billions and billions of blue blistering barnacles?), the bumbling detectives, the Thompson twins (with and without the P), the brilliant Professor Cuthbert Calculus and Capt Haddock's long suffering butler, Nestor. Characters like the opera singer Bianca Castafiore, the naughty prince Abdullah and the irritating insurance agent Jolyon Wagg appear in some stories. Tintin's greatest villain is Rastapopoulos.
The books are a result of Herge's painstaking research. Everything from the diagrams of the moon rocket to Calculus' submarine in Red Rackham's treasure owe their detailing to Herge's fascination with facts. Four films were shown as part of a Tintin package at the International Children's Film Festival. Red Rackham's Treasure is a sequel to The Secret of the Unicorn. The Calculus Affair has professor Calculus in the eye of a storm with opposing factions from Slydavia and Borduria. Tintin in Tibet has Tintin going to Tibet to rescue his friend Chang from the Yeti. The last film, Tintin and the lake of Sharks is not based on a book. The movie features a strange invention by Calculus. The movies were a wonderful "reading" of the comic books as they were animated versions of the books.
