Begging

Mumbai beggars will certainly not agree that begging isn't a paying option. A recent report on Sify.com had the story of Sambhaji Kale and his family who beg and make Rs. 1,000 per day and have Rs. 40,000 saved, with investments, houses and land. A survey carried out recently by the Social Development Centre and Dr Chandrakant Puri, assistant director, Distance Education, SNDT has identified Sambhaji Kale as the richest among the beggars in Mumbai. While this certainly isn't the Forbes list of the wealthy, it does amount to something!
