Fairy tale stamps

RUPA GOPAL

The Singapore Philatelic Museum has put up an exhibition of Hans' stories, commemorating the year with the release of four stamps on his popular stories — Thumbelina, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor's New Clothes and Little Mermaid. It's the first time that Singapore has featured a foreign celebrity on its stamp.

Interesting snippets about the author are displayed around the exhibition. The exhibition has been made unique with a storybook corner, a large cut-out of the Emperor which can be dressed by visitors, and tracing Thumbelina moving through the flowers, as in her tale.
