Jason Chaser only wants one thing: to fly hovercars professionally. Hovercar racing is not a sport for the weak-minded: it's mind-blowingly fast, dangerous, and totally unpredictable. When Jason messes up a big race, he thinks he has no chance of joining the prestigious Race School. Surprisingly, though, he's accepted — and with his Hovercar, the Argonaut, and his brother the Bug, he's all set to race! But the world of racing is not an easy one. As Jason moves on to more important events, can he prevent saboteurs from wrecking his big chance?

An incredible, fast-paced book, Matthew Reilly vividly describes hovercar racing, and though the influence of various sports (golf and Formula 1 especially) is obvious, the sport still retains a unique quality. Though the storyline is predictable, the exciting races and commentator-like dialogue more than make up for it.

Thirteen-year-old Jules is happy. Cooking with her wonderful dad, auditioning for the main part in a play of her favourite book, The Northern Lights, and passing notes in class to her best friend, Marty.

Then suddenly her dad leaves home, and does not want to talk to Jules anymore. Jules is devastated: no one wants to tell her why this has happened. She knows there is a deep, dark secret about her and she's desperate to find out. Labelled Child X, hunted by the media and teased by kids at school, can Jules' life ever be the same again?

Written by the author of the Missing Abby, this book, too is very touching. It is gripping and makes a sweet, appealing story.
