Celebrating FIFA World Cup

R. SOUNDARARAJAN

The Post Office of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea issued a multicoloured stamp featuring the 1970 FIFA World Cup final at Mexico in which Brazil beat Italy (4-1). The country is located on the west coast of Africa.

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) founded in Paris in 1904 organised the first World Cup in 1930 in Uruguay. The chief international tournament is held every four years since then except during the interval caused by World War II. This year Germany is the host country.

The stamp is designed in a distinctive way with a football in the background and the result of the competition too.
