Eye power
Out of 2,325 students, 115 girls were diagnosed with vision problems at the school. Students preparing for their board exams were given special attention. Some students had eye powers as high as minus nine and minus 14. ``A number of students lose out on their academics as a result of poor vision,'' said K. Mani Mala, Trustee and Chief Executive of Sankar Foundation.
The hospital screens students and provides them with spectacles, counselling and other eye care facilities. "It is important for students to be comfortable wearing spectacles,'' she added. The hospital has a tie-up with Tectron Polylens Ltd. that provides aesthetically designed spectacles free of cost to the children.
