Handicrafts of India

India is known for its traditional handicrafts. The term handicrafts refers to skilled activities such as pottery, embroidery or metal casting as also objects done/made by hand and not machine.

India Post brought out a set of four stamps on the handicrafts of India in 2002. Valued at Rs. 5 each the stamps show Cane and Bamboo artefacts, Theva art — an ornamentation in gold done on the surface of coloured glass, Dhokra metal casting by using clay and tools and Patolas weaving of silk. These are made in different parts of the country.
