The Casson family lives a messy, chaotic, abnormal life — but they wouldn't have it any other way. So Eve, the distracted but well-meaning mother, continues to paint in the shed, forgetting all about te housekeeping; Caddy battles with driving lessons, A-levels, and her little sisters' problems and Indigo braves his fears and struggles to overcome his vertigo. Rose, the talented artist, deals with her school, her paintings and her father. Nobody notices anything wrong with Saffy — but she's the saddest of the lot.

Golden-haired, long-legged, unhappy Saffy wants only one thing: to find a stone angel bequeathed to her by her grandfather, and find her place in the Casson family.

Refreshing, bittersweet and well told, Saffy's Angel is a welcome alternative to trashy teenage fiction. It's a funny book, but also tackles serious issues and is a true-to-life portrayal of a very lonely girl lost in a chaotic family. First in a series about the Casson family, Saffy's Angel is lighthearted, hilarious and very rereadable.

In this companion novel to Saffy's Angel, the Casson family once again struggles with their usual ups and downs. Indigo Casson is a very different kind of boy, which makes him the perfect target for bullies. Day after day he is tortured endlessly without anyone to stand up for him. Then he meets Tom, a boy from America. Soon a strange kind of friendship starts between them, and Tom becomes "Indigo's Star". Meanwhile, Indigo's sister Rose looks up to Tom too - a boy who is so very different in comparison to the bullies in Indigo's class. One thing is for sure, Tom has a lot to learn from the Casson family.

This book has so much humour in it, yet it is wonderfully touching and real. This moving yet funny story with its lovable characters is definitely one which all children must grow up with.
