Techie Teffy

PAROMITA PAIN

The football season is here and of course Techie got totally caught up in the fever of it all. The net is all-agog with scores, goals and wins but Techie recently discovered a most exciting site where you can play your own world cup games without any ad breaks.

The LearnEnglish Kids site at http://www.britishcouncil.org/kids-topics-football.htm is a veritable feast for football lovers. From what football related words mean to the history of this great event, to the luminaries whose exalted feet ever deigned to kick a ball, the site has many links on it, presented in an easy to navigate distraction free atmosphere. Play the "Are you a good goalkeeper?" game. If this is too easy, try level 2.

Don't miss the footballer profiles available in pdf formats for easy downloading and printing. Take them to school and have a good break time, arguing and checking to see who gets most right!

http://www.soccerphile.com/ has info on stuff other than just scores, teams and star players. This site has info on books on football, space for blogs and helps fans connect on the friend's section.

The yahoo site at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/o/ is probably the most info packed site on the World Cup available. Read the latest media releases and newsletters from FIFA and Organising Committee. You can meet the members of the OC Team hosting the 2006 FIFA World at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/o/octeam/index.html

Find out what the national and international ambassadors of the 2006 FIFA World Cup are saying about the global festival of football in Germany at http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/o/klub.html

An important section is the Club 2006 where many club players and students have signed up for the OC campaigns "Club 2006: The FIFA World Cup" at your club and "Talents 2006: The FIFA World Cup" at school. "Green Goal" is the 2006 FIFA World Cup environment initiative. For the first time in the tournament's history, environmental protection is an integral component of the FIFA World Cup. Also look up
